William Blumenthal is chairman of Clifford Chance’s US Antitrust group. He advises clients on all aspects of antitrust law, including mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures, horizontal and vertical restraints, monopolization, predatory pricing, distribution agreements and consumer protection issues. Prior to joining Clifford Chance, Mr. Blumenthal was General Counsel of the Federal Trade Commission, where he served as the agency’s chief law officer. Mr. Blumenthal previously served as Vice Chair of the American Bar Association’s Section of Antitrust Law, as chair of the Section’s committee responsible for mergers, and as vice chair of the committee responsible for restraints of trade. He has been active in the work of the International Competition Network, the OECD, the International and US Chambers of Commerce.
