Franck is a Senior research fellow at the Max Planck Institute for Intellectual Property and Competition Law, Munich. Franck was awarded the Sloan Economics of Knowledge Contribution and Distribution Grant 2013 (with Richard Watt), the Best Paper Prize for 2011 of the Review of Economic Research on Copyright Issues (with Marc Scheufen) and the Innovation, Intellectual Property and Competition Policy 2011 Grant by the Tilburg Law and Economics Center (with Richard Watt). His studies include undergraduate studies in economics at the Universities of Bonn and Lisbon (1997 – 2003). He holds a Diplom-Volkswirt (equiv. MSc in Economics, 2003). Franck was a Research associate and teaching assistant at the Institute of Law and Economics, University of Hamburg (2004 – 2008, Doctoral thesis: "Creating R&D Incentives for Medicines for Neglected Diseases"), and at the Alfred Weber Institute for Social Policy and Political Economy, University of Heidelberg (2008).
